Parent antenatal education class

Parent antenatal education class

Parents-to-be who are booked to birth at Peel Health Campus are encouraged to attend our free* parent antenatal education classes from 20 weeks of pregnancy onwards.

The class is presented by dedicated midwives and covers the following topics:

  • understanding pregnancy changes
  • signs of labour
  • pain relief options
  • the stages of labour and birth
  • birth preferences and birth plans
  • caring for your newborn baby
  • what to expect in the postnatal period
  • partners and their support role
  • breastfeeding
  • preparing for your hospital stay.

* If you do not hold a current Medicare card you will be charged to attend these education classes.

Class details

Time: Please arrive at 8.45am for a 9:00am start. Class finishes at approximately 1.30pm

Dates: the second Saturday of the month.

Venue: Conference Room 1 in the Education Department – you will find directions on arrival. See the Peel Health Campus map (PDF 2.7MB).

What to bring: anything you need to be comfortable, such as a water bottle, snacks, birthing ball or cushions.
